PhD candidate specializing in the Social Impact of Music Making, holding an MA in Music Education from the University College London, Institute of Education, with Distinction. Additionally, I earned a BA in Musical Arts with Merit from the District University of Bogotá. My professional background includes significant experience as a consultant and academic coordinator for musical and artistic projects emphasizing social impact. I have demonstrated expertise in formulating and executing policies and programs across diverse formal and informal educational contexts. Notably, I served as the coordinator of the training component and pedagogic advisor for the National Music Plan for Living Together (PNMC) at the Ministry of Culture in Colombia, contributing to the implementation of musical policies and strengthening over 1,000 non-formal music schools for bands, choirs, orchestras, and popular and traditional music nationwide between 2010 and 2014. As a founding member of "Sonido Colectivo," I actively contribute to a knowledge community fostering dialogue among individuals, agents, and institutions interested in comprehending the role and impact of music in social construction within the Colombian context. Presently, I hold the position of a full-time music pedagogy professor at the University of Valle. Simultaneously, I am a doctoral researcher at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London supported by the Social Impact of Music Making platform (SIMM). Under the guidance of Professors John Sloboda and Geoff Baker, my research delves into the implications of non-formal music schools for human development and social construction in Colombia.
