Chiara Palazzolo is a philosophy researcher at the Center for Virtues and Values at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (Madrid). She is also a light lyric soprano, trained at the Conservatory of Parma (Italy), and her academic work is closely informed by her musical practice. Among her recent publications is the book Music as Vocation: The Professional Ethics of the Classical Musician (Brill, 2025). Her current research, reflected in articles published in international journals, explores the philosophy and psychology of musical learning, with a particular focus on its role in the cultivation of virtuous character and its implications for ethical-musical agency. She is also interested in music as a restorative practice in contexts of conflict, investigating its potential to foster dialogue, reconciliation, peacebuilding, and the rebuilding of relationships and communities. In addition, she works on virtue ethics, as well as on the philosophy of forgiveness and restorative justice. Her most recent article, “After Harm: The Virtue of Forgiveness in Restorative Justice,” was published in the Journal of Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology (American Psychological Association) in 2026.
