Japan Folk Dance NIPPON is dedicated to fostering peace and international understanding through traditional dance and participatory cultural exchange. Guided by the belief that “dance is a universal language,” we create inclusive spaces where individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds can connect beyond words. Through initiatives such as Asia Ren and Future Lab: Festival × SDGs, we explore how traditional Japanese festival culture can contribute to sustainable social development, intercultural dialogue, and community empowerment. Our mission is to cultivate empathy, mutual respect, and coexistence through embodied artistic practice.

Our activities include: • Traditional Japanese folk dance performances and workshops • Asia Ren – intercultural Awa Odori collaboration with participants from 13 Asian countries • Future Lab: Festival × SDGs – a 90-minute educational program integrating festival philosophy and sustainability learning • Asian Folk Dance Ensemble – presentation of diverse Asian dance traditions to promote regional cultural dialogue Through these initiatives, we connect cultural heritage with contemporary social challenges and create participatory spaces for dialogue and mutual learning.
