Mission Statement
My mission is to preserve and develop the musical heritage of Aceh by using it as a powerful medium to promote peace, reconciliation, and cross-cultural understanding. I strive to bridge historical narratives with future aspirations through music, showing that tradition can be a symbol of hope and resilience.
Activities
As a composer, I create and present musical works that promote peace. Several of my pieces, such as "Cakra Suara" and "Denting Damai," have been performed on national and international stages. As a researcher, I actively conduct studies on the relationship between traditional music and reconciliation. Currently, I am undertaking a research project titled "Acehnese Vocals in the Nyawoeng Album: A Legacy of Peace," which focuses on music's role in transforming narratives of conflict into narratives of peace. Furthermore, as a lecturer at the Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia Aceh, I share my knowledge and experience with the younger generation, guiding them to use art as a tool to express their cultural identity and contribute to their community.
Objectives
As a composer, researcher, and lecturer at ISBI Aceh, my objective is to preserve and develop traditional Acehnese music by blending it with modern elements. My work aims to demonstrate how cultural heritage can be a powerful medium for promoting peace, cross-cultural friendship, and community building. Through my compositions and research, I strive to strengthen the role of music as a tool for cultural diplomacy that transcends geographical borders, as shown by my international performances and my upcoming research on peace narratives in traditional music.
