MOMRI Research Fellow Michael Golden presented his work on "Musicking as Ecological Behavior" at the Cognitive Futures in the Arts and Humanities conference held at the University of Warsaw (Poland) from July 12-16, 2023.

Prof. Golden's paper incorporates review of the ethnomusicological literature, contemporary philosophy of cognition, biology, neuroscience and ecology (along with artists' statements) in presenting a view of musicking as something people do, ultimately, to connect with our environment. In conclusion, he argues that musicking can be an effective tool in bridging divisions and reducing violence.
