Professor and Research Fellow Michael Golden presented his paper “Musicking as Ecological Behavior: Implications for Applications” as an invited “keystone” (keynote) speaker at the Art and Ecology Symposium, held June 3, 2022 at the University of California Irvine Campus. The symposium was sponsored by the Environmental Collaboratory, a consortium of ecology-related programs at the university and local community groups. Dr. Golden’s paper emphasized the potential of musicking activities in bringing people together and fostering awareness of our interdependence with each other and our environments.
Following the talks and dialogue session, Dr. Golden led two workshops with graduate students, faculty and community members using an original composition in which participants’ interactions are modelled on ecosystem relationships, modelling the themes of his paper.
