Share Music Day video with musicians from Venezuela

We have just released our March 2021 Share Music Day video, which includes a short video produced by Associate Research Fellow Elaine Sandoval.

In this video, Elaine talks with musicians from San Juan de los Morros, Venezuela about music and the pandemic. Elaine originally met María Victoria González and Sinahyd León when they were teachers at the Alma Llanera program in Guárico, Venezuela and members of the Orquesta Henry Rubio. Elaine's doctoral dissertation in ethnomusicology is based on ethnographic fieldwork at the Alma Llanera program. María Victoria (harpist, vocalist) and Sinahyd (bandola player) are both highly skilled in Venezuelan music, especially of the llanos (plains) region.
