Share Music Day Video with Music in Common

We have just released our July 2021 Share Music Day video, which includes a short video produced by Research Fellow Michael Golden.

In this video, Michael Golden introduces the music-based peacebuilding organization Music in Common (MIC), by way of a conversation with its founder, Todd Mack. Michael is a professor at Soka University of America and initially learned about Music in Common through one of his students. Michael is a composer, educator, and occasional jazz pianist, and has pursued his research interest in synthesizing concepts from diverse fields of study as they relate to musicking, from ethnomusicology to cognition, philosophy, biology, ecology and now peace studies, among others. Todd Mack is a musician and songwriter and initially founded MIC as a way to engage youth in dialog and music creation, in response to violence. MIC specifically pursues activities including interfaith dialog, youth songwriting, and peacebuilding through group creativity.
