May 29, 2026

Olivier Urbain

On May 29th, 2026, MOMRI welcomed a visit from Ingrida Alonderė, Lithuanian Musicologist, Cultural Strategist, Researcher, and Director of the Vilnius City Municipal Choir Jauna Muzika, for dialogues on music, community, and asynchronous peacebuilding.

An active member of the MOMRI Dialogue Network (DiaNet), Ingrida’s contributions to Music in Peacebuilding are described as follows on her DiaNet bio page:

Her work brings together musicology, cultural practice, and communication — including academic research, music criticism, interviews, and cultural writing. She is particularly interested in how music functions as a space for connection, meaning-making, and shared experience.

A central focus of her work is virtual choirs and digitally mediated collective singing, exploring how voice, technology, and participation can create new forms of presence, empathy, and community across distance.

Ingrida’s visit on May 29 was a wonderful opportunity for DiaNet members living in Tokyo to enhance understanding of each other’s work, strengthen their connection with each other, and reaffirm the potential of musicking to deepen shared experiences and expand community building. DiaNet member Kiyomi Muro held a special meeting with Ingrida on May 28.
